Pre-treatment of source separated food waste feedstocks.

ECOGI is designed to process domestic, commercial and industrial food-based feedstocks to produce a high-quality substrate for biogas production by the AD industry.

Feedstocks with physical contamination levels of 20%+ can be processed achieving a capture rate of over 95% of the bio-degradable materials within the feedstock. ECOGI is very effective in removing all forms of physical contamination including plastics, glass and metals.

The high-quality pulp-based substrate produced has a physical purity of over 99.9% and a very high degree of fineness (particle size 60% < 100µ, 93%, 1.3mm).

ECOGI substrate will reduce the time needed to reach peak gas generation during the AD stage and will ultimately produce a digestate that is virtually free from physical contamination.

ECOGI is a complete and fully automated pre-treatment technology which includes a:

    Feed hopper and feed conveyor which start to access the organic materials.
    Hydro-pulper to break down and fully access the organic materials within the feedstock.
    Separator to remove non-organic materials and produce the virtually pure substrate.
    Washing stage to maximise the recovery of organic materials.
    De-watering stage for the non-organic reject materials.

Rejected materials are mainly made up of plastic, glass and metals which can be sent for recycling or energy recovery.

ECOGI can be used as a dedicated front-end pre-treatment process at an AD facility or as part of a centralised processing plant producing a high-quality substrate for distribution to a network of anaerobic digestion facilities.
